BIMSafe NZ welcomes Research Assistant

Ifeanyi Okakpu Sml

We warmly welcome Dr Ifeanyi Okakpu to the BIMSafe NZ team as our full-time Research Assistant.

Ifeanyi will be responsible for the research papers which will support our project guideline authors and provide the international best practice perspective to the project. He is committed to forging strong links and relationships between academics and the industry. 

The main research areas Ifeanyi will focus on include the effectiveness of the adoption of Building Information Modelling for Complex buildings in New Zealand, Smart cities Innovations, Seismic Retrofitting, and his knowledge of health and safety in construction operations. 

Well-travelled academically, Ifeanyi obtained his Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering at Auckland University of Technology (AUT) in 2019. He achieved his Bachelor of Engineering from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Nigeria, then a Master of Science in Civil engineering at Dogu Akdeniz Universitesi, Cyprus.

Anthony worked as a Research Officer at AUT, where his research primarily concentrated on the future of buildings and urban areas from the lens of sustainable/healthy design and Smartification.

He has worked as Education Tutor, offering pastoral care to students in the community and was previously a contract Teaching Fellow at Waikato University, tutoring on the use of Revit and AutoCAD to civil engineering students.
